One day

One day I decided to walk in the park.  I sat on a bench near a pond.  Many ducks and fish were swimming there.  I was fascinated by them as the ducks came to me to be fed and the fish sipped insects from the surface.  I fed bread crumbs to them as they walked before me.  The sun shone and the flowers waved in the breeze and I was very happy.  It was a beautiful day.

One day, I decided to walk in the park.  I sat under a tree and a nearby hawk began to watch me.  The bird fascinated me as it moved closer and as its mate hunted mice in a field nearby.  I began to think I was sitting near to their nest so I decided to leave.  I kept looking over my shoulder as I walked away from the grove of trees.  Suddenly, the hawk flew out of the trees directly at me!  It stopped its attack at the last moment as I cowered like a mouse.  It was a hot day.

OK, wow. I haven't been here in a while. I was busy finishing school. Sorry. Everybody. All you listeners out there. Now though, I am too tired to write about much. I just got back from the mountains. I'm forging some new wildcat trails up there. Some tree punched me in the face today along that way. Last week I was in DC for a conference. Mixed bag there: new experience, opportunity, people, friends; too fast for me to pick it ALL up, so I'm a little miffed on that one. Next week, next conference, in SF, CA. Hope that goes well. Now, sleep. Tim-out.

OMG,OMG, OMG, OMG!

I just made my first contribution to Wikipedia and I am so excited!  I noticed a small error in the posterior hyperparameters of the binomial likelihood distribution.  There appeared a discrepancy between by derivation of the parameter set and what appeared on the Wikipedia site.  So I checked it out and found the Wiki page was missing a sigma notation for an indexed sample element.  Silly I'm sure!  It is here noted in the red circle FYI.

So, I guess I just zoomed up to super-dork status.  Look for me in the locker room to beat me up.

Um.  So I guess this is the bridge to my father's hometown.  Where we are going in a couple weeks to run the local weekly newspaper for the regular guy for a while.  Might be a story there.  News to me and you.  But those people living there have been living it for like a month.  I just saw another picture, one of a town completely surrounded by water with only dikes keeping it out.  I hope that... shit, I hope I don't get drowned.

This was new at the Museum of Contemporary Art.  This photograph doesn't do the painting justice.  It was so vivid and textural in person.  This was the first time I had been back to the museum since February, I think.
